Renaissance
May 31st, 2007 by sebastian94
The renaissance that we have learned during the last two classes are taking place in Europe. Also the renaissance is places were there were fresh new ideas and the time of painters and new inventions. Also this is the time were religion took over many things, like the government and decisions and controlled the people even the church went to war called the crusades. Also it was the time of the kings and queens ruled over man and that there was the time of trading. And that some things that were invented back then were not used as we use them today, for example the umbrella was only used by woman and to protect them from the sun, and now everybody uses it to cover themselves from the rain. Finally Renaissance was a time for painters, sculptors, inventors, explorers, and scientists and when there was the era of new ideas and fresh your mind also called in Spanish “el renacimiento” or “the re-birth.”

Renaissance Interview Reflection
May 9th, 2007 by sebastian94
1)I learned that the renaissance was a time of passion and creativity that included men and women, Isabella d’Este was known as the first woman of the renaissance. Also people changed the future and how things we see today, for example Leonardo da Vici invented the bicycle, helicopter and elevator. Also there were very talented for example Christopher Marlowe who went to a king school and got an MA for Cambridge. Most of their families supported them, and cared about them, instance Miguel de Cervantes was freed from slavery, by money that their family collected. And they had most amazing talents that even some created laws that help us understand the world now, Isaac Newton invented 3 laws of force and gravity. Some could speak many languages, Elizabeth Tudor could speak French, Italian, and English fluently, and also she could write Greek and Latin. Also others helped on what they believed in like Martin Luther and Christianity. However some had nothing to do with intelligence but expressed passion and beauty for example Miguel Angelo made beautiful sculpt ions. And those are the times that changed on how we see the world today.
2) If I could do my interview all over again, I would read it overso I don’t stop or get stuck. Also I would have to speak up some more so that my recorded voice would be heard. Also make the interview in somewhere else so that there would be no noise of AC. Also I would try to get to the personality of my character right. So that the people hearing could visualize better how my character is and how dose it react. Also I would have to show more personality. However If I could do all this I would sound more listenable, smooth and clear.

Title:Cheney arrives in Iraqi capital Cheney arrives in Iraqi capital

1)How are both articles related?
The both articles are related because they are all about how to solve the problem of the car bombs in Iraq. the how are they going to solve it and in one says that the vice president was going to arrive and in the other one it says that the vice president is discussing on what to do now. Also they both talk about how they are going to solve he problem. However they also say how they both affect the people.
2)What did you actually find interesting about this article?
I found interesting that actually the Vice president went to Iraq were there are all the bombing and meet with the government and the U.S soldiers, to see what to do. Also, to figure out how to stop the bombings in Iraq. I’m impressed because I can see that the U.S really wants to help Iraq. Also that they send the Vice President to put things straight and see if they send more soldiers. And that is very risky.
3) what did you actually foud interesting about the blog posting?
What I found really interesting about the blog post is that they destroy the country only so that there would be no more U.S soldiers in Iraq. They would even kill some people from Iraq only to do that. So it’s a real risk. Also, they would sometimes even suicide themselves to do it. So they most really not like to be controlled by the U.S.

Christopher Marlowe is a man who lived between the years of 1564-1593, e was a great poet/play writer. He was like Shakespeare that loved to write. However Marlowe lived in Canterbury England and went to a king’s school even though his father made shoes. Later he went to Cambridge in London with an MA and there was when he began to write poems and plays. Then all the way during his time period he wrote 9 poems/plays. And those plays/poems were called:
 The first book of Luckan
 Ovid’s Amores
 Dido, Queen of Carthage
 Tamburline the grate
 The Jew of Malta
 Doctor Faustos
 Edward the send
 The massacre at Paris
 Hero and Leander
However “Hero and Leander” was first started in the year Christopher died and then that poem didn’t get to be finished. Also Marlowe invented the blank verse of writing and he used so much that Shakespeare got inspired and did it as well. Then Christopher Marlowe died by a fight with his friend Frizer over a tax bill.

Writing Across Culture
April 12th, 2007 by sebastian94
The person that today would be part of the Renaissance would be Oprah Winfrey. She would be a good part of the Renaissance because she is considered the most influential woman. And that she was very successful that she already has a television show called The Oprah Winfrey Show. Also she has even a magazine and in there it says you can change anything by one step at the time. On the renaissance it was a time of beauty and people began to see the world differently and inventions that make the world more understandable. Oprah invented ways on how to make your life better. Some of them were: save money, diet strategies, relationship strategies, how to prevent dangerous people and encourages people to follow their dreams and to never give up

1) How are the both articles related?
They are both related because they both are fights with the religious problems in
Iraq. However they are also different beacause during these religious fights there are also kidnapping and killing. Also it is getting more out of control.
2) What did you find interesting about this article?
I found interesting that even though there is religious problems on
Iraq there are still a lot of other problems. Also that
Iraq is launching a new program of security and that they think is going to better effective against crimes. and the most interesting thing is that how this new program is going to help and what dose it consist of.
3) What did you found interesting from the blog posting?
What I found interesting about the blog posting was that after the war
Iraq is still on problems. Also it makes me realize that people in
Iraq are much more religious that other country that I know of. Finally the last thing that I think that is really interesting why are there religious problems, if they are proving what the best religion or because is its leader told them to.

“Are there people today willing to give up their lives for a cause they believe in?”
February 26th, 2007 by sebastian94
There are many answers for this; there even could be a debate about this topic. However for my opinion for this, is “yes”, they can and will defend, even the will to give their life to prove their own ideas. I say this, because the people are more competitive this days and they always think it has to be their ways, and they will fight and even kill, to prove that they are superior than every body else. Other people would give their lives to put to their ideas because they have spend to much time on it that they would not just ignore them and start all over again but to protect them and supporting them. Finally the last people that would protect their own believes, are the ones who really don’t protect their own believes, but from somebody else. They do this is usually for popularity, respect, money, possessions, and friendship. But this people don’t know that they are protecting and supporting something that is not theirs, but what is going to be theirs, also that they should have a different point of view and should speak about it. And this are the reasons that I think why the people now a days would give their lives for their own believes.

How important was religion to people of the Middle Ages?
February 18th, 2007 by sebastian94
There were many important things in the middle ages, but the religion was one of the most important, they were so important that they needed to have a church in every city, even in some a Cathedral that is a big church. People who worked there to worship the god was the monks that were not apparently to get married. Also that monks gave their life’s to pray to god. People in the middle ages thought also that religion was very helpful and that the monks that were send by god, and that they helped by; Farming, Teaching, Devout prayer, Helping the sick and poor, Building, Feeding the poor, Baking bread and copying manuscripts. As they were helping at this, they talked about the god and that promised better life after death and many people turned to that religion. Also on their schedule that they help people they had to dedicate to church service. Also they people of villages or cities, had to dedicate a day for the church and every month they all had to pay the 10th of what they earned to the church, and the churches were always in the middle of villages and cities. And finally there were also Friars that were monks that haven’t liven in a monastery and life by traveling, the friars job is to comforts families and to help the sick. So religion was very important to the people of the middle ages, because with out is there would be chaos and there will be robbing, killing, lying and there would be many dead people on the streets.

Title of article: Nuclear Weapons Programme
Date published: Thursday, 8 February 2007
Website adress: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/6340157.stm
Pictures:
This is the picture of Pyongyang
Picture Citation: http://english.enorth.com.cn/new/world/image/Pyongyang.jpg

This is where it is all happening
Picture Citation:http://www.theodora.com/maps/new9/north_korea_map.gif

1)What is the issue?
That North Korea, South Korea, Japan, Russia, China and the U.S are having a debate if North Korea should abandon the Nuclear Weapons Progamme. However North Korea in exchange for stopping the Programme wants protection from the other countries, other wise they are going to keep on doing the Nuclear Weapon Programme
2) Who is Involved?
The countries that are involved in this situation are North Korea, South Korea, Japan, China, Russia and the U.S. However mainly the people included are North Korea and the U.S, because the U.S is the one who proposed to north Korea to stop the Nuclear Weapon Progamme.
3) Who is affected and how?
-
North Korea- They are affected if the other countries agrees North Korea’s proposal than they get protection, and if they don’t get the approval they keep on doing the Nuclear Weapon Programme.
-
The other Countries- They are affected by deciding the approval and if they approve they have to protect
North Korea. However if they don’t approve to their proposal they are going to let
North Korea keep making a very dangerous weapon.
4) What would you do if you were directly involved?
If I was directly involved I would approve North Korea’s proposition and protect it. I would do this because protecting something is much more safer than letting even people to use Nuclear Weapons, because it could make much harm.

What have I learned about the “Middle Ages”?
February 8th, 2007 by sebastian94
I have learned many things about the middle ages for example that the “Middle Ages” were really called the “Dark Ages”, and that that they only happened on
Europe. Also that in those times Christianity grew more and more and that it began to have a pope. Also that there was a giant disease that killed almost everybody, and you could see if you had it if you had a ring on your chest or on your neck and that almost last 100 years, and to the dead people put them into a pit that was outside of the city, but only for that when the bodies decompose and the virus ran down to the rivers that they drink water from and then many more people got infected. On those ages there were kings that controlled the land and there were also vassals who got part of the land and took taxes from the farmers and fiefs. Also that the Vikings came from Norway and were strong and usually traveled in boats and worked for the king and that the highest person is:
KING-LORDS-VASSELS- FIEFS
